The first few days, weeks and months after your baby arrives can feel like a whirlwind of new parent learning curves, conflicting emotions, and exhaustion. During this vulnerable and emotional period, it’s important for your new family to feel supported so you can focus on rest and bonding as a family.
Imagine after several sleepless nights, having your Doula arrive and send you to bed. She watches your new baby for you. When you wake up from a well-deserved nap you smell dinner cooking in the oven. The piles of laundry that’s been stressing you out have been folded and put away, and your baby is happy.
Imagine your Doula comes over in the late evening. She makes sure you have a bath with postpartum herbs to soothe your healing bottom. You are so relaxed you can breastfeed your baby easily – for the first time that day. Your Doula tucks you in and holds your baby for the next several hours so you and your partner can sleep. If the baby is hungry, she wakes you up to nurse and then takes your baby back so you can keep sleeping. You feel glorious when you wake up hours later with the first decent sleep you have had since your baby was born.
Imagine feeling nervous about giving your baby their first bath, or being concerned about a possible diaper rash, or feeling scared about each step of new parenting. Your postpartum Doula is only a phone, text, or email away. She can advise, reassure, and help you feel calm and empowered.
Don’t just imagine it!
All of these scenarios are real-life examples of how we have helped former postpartum clients. Our postpartum Doula service can make all the difference in your healing, adjusting to becoming a parent, and your breastfeeding success!

Thank you for everything. Your attention to my needs and our baby’s needs helped me to sleep well while you were here watching our little girl. Being able to get the reassurance we needed for all of our questions was invaluable. And having someone who I could talk to about the birth experience helped me immensely. I can’t thank you enough for your time and what a difference it made in the first two months after birth. I am so grateful for everything!

Our Role
A Postpartum Doula is a trained, non-medical, emotional and physical support person who assists you and your family after your baby has been born. A Postpartum Doula can make a difference in your healing, adjusting to becoming a parent, and your breastfeeding success. Because every mother and family has different needs, our doula services are tailored to your circumstances and preferences.
Our Care
Doulas offer a different type of care than that of medical caregivers. We provide support during the “fourth trimester” to help you adjust to your new life as parents. We help with baby care, parent’s rest, light housekeeping, breastfeeding, and so much more. We encourage and cheerlead our clients as they step into their new parent role.
Our Support
Our team helps to complement you and your partner’s strengths and best assist you through the twists and turns of early parenting. In addition to your postpartum hours, we are also available for phone, email, and text support to get you through any questions or moments of uncertainty, that life with a new baby can bring.
Your support was everything I needed. During postpartum, I went through the stress of having a baby in the NICU and not getting the bonding experience I had envisioned. Having you to talk to was so helpful and I will never forget all the words of encouragement during such a difficult time. If you want to feel empowered and come out with a positive experience I would highly recommend a doula.

After having my first child under the support of Kathy & Bronwyn, I hope that any future children will also be brought into the world under the same loving and compassionate support.

FAQ
A Doula is a trained, non-medical, emotional, and physical support person who assists you and your family during your postpartum period.
A Doula offers emotional, physical, and informational support for their clients. A Doula does not do any medical checks or procedures (such as checking your baby’s weight gain or examining birth stitches). Your Doula team answers your questions, connects you to resources, assists with new baby care, and much more.
Our Doulas see their role as working with both mom and partner. During the postpartum period, our Doulas are able to help partners process the birth experience if they need, give tips on supporting mom with breastfeeding, and teach about baby care. Some of the partners we have worked with before have felt initially skeptical about having a Doula. All of them have later shared with us how helpful it was to have her with them during the postpartum period.
Postpartum visits can vary. We can discuss how you feel about the birth. We can take care of your baby so you can sleep or get a shower, help with breastfeeding, or teach you how to care for a baby. We will also do light housework such as dishes, and laundry.
You will need to check your insurance package. Many benefits programs that have flex packages will cover all or a portion of the Doula fees. We always ask that clients submit our invoices either way. The more often that insurance companies see this as a need the sooner it will be included in benefits packages.
Doulas are not regulated in Canada. However, most Doulas are trained and certified by recognized organizations. You can learn more about our Doulas backgrounds and training HERE.
We have liability coverage for both our Birth and Postpartum Doula services.
While a Doula is an advocate for you, we are unable to speak on you or your partner’s behalf to your medical caregivers. We can explain further what is happening in any given situation and provide information to encourage mom or partner to ask the right questions, ensuring everyone is on the same page and you feel empowered in whatever decisions you need to make. As professional Doulas, we will never tell you what you should or should not do, but will tell you the pros and cons for each option based on evidence-based information.
